Today at our meeting, we learned to tell the difference between eating b/c we're hungry vs. eating because we're feeling emotional.
i always thought I wasn't an emotional eater, but they included boredom and happiness in "emotional eating" and I definitely eat when I'm bored and when I'm happy. I just don't eat when I'm sad, anxious, or angry. Stress is another emotional eating category, and I guess I do tend to munch when I'm stressed. For example, I feel a strong urge to visit the candy bowl at work when I'm feeling swamped with work.
Anyway, so our assignment is to make a list of 10 things I can do this week instead of eating when I'm not physically hungry.
I'm supposed to stick the list on the fridge or pantry door, or wherever one keeps their munchy snacks.
ok, here we go. Ten things I can do this week instead of eating b/c I'm bored or happy:
1. Read my book club book (The Power of One)
2. Walk on the treadmill (one can dream...)
3. Play with or work on obedience training with Benji
4. Organize my closet
5. Surf the internet
6. Change the linens in the guest room
7. Take Benji for a walk
8. Go shopping for new clothes (heh heh...)
9. Soduku
10. Call a friend or my sister
That was surprisingly harder than I expected.
ok, so now I challenge you to write your list and post it on your fridge or pantry and when you feel the need to eat b/c you're bored, sterssed, angry, anxious, sad, or happy... do one of the things on your list instead! Good luck! :-)

Good list! We had a similar conversation at my WW meeting this morning, and it got me thinking about what I can do when I feel the need to eat. I know that I am an emotional eater, so doing something physical like cleaning a room in my house is usually helpful for me. Good luck sticking to your list!
